"Genesis Rhapsodos, certification for the invention of the dumbapple juice…", a male voice read out from a lit pinboard hanging over a little brown desk in the ruins of Banora. Hardly having taken his eyes off this paper the next thing caught his eyes right away: two photos. He recognized Genesis on both the photos. He was obviously younger. But either he didn’t recognize the girl by his side or he didn’t want to believe it…
In this moment a flashback appeared in his head: “We used to be close but our ways went apart…”, he remembered her saying at the beach.
"No way, this can’t be.", the male said and shook his head to avoid the memories but more pictures appeared: he remembered having seen the girl, whom he didn’t want believe it was, appearing after he fought Genesis in Modeoheim.
He just saw her from a slight spot then as he was already rushing after his friend Cloud. A slight laugh tore him back to reality. “These were times… And now look at us…”. This dark velvet voice of a female could match to only one person. Zack jolting turned to where the voice came from. Platinum blonde straight long hair, a tall and slim silhouette, blue eyes, red lips. There was no doubt. The only difference was that she had exchanged her black dress with black leather leggings, and elbow-length gloves, black ankle boots with block heels and a strapless black top.
"Piret…?", he asked and held the two photos in front her to compare it. "So it was Genesis whom you meant!" Piret slowly walked towards the desk while having her one arm folded. The other one was rested on it and she was biting the thumb nail of it seeming close to tears. She stared at pinboard and said with a tearful voice: "Genesis… All the years… And I thought… You haven’t stopped loving even after what I have done…". She shook her head and took a deep breath then she turned to Zack who looked at her confused: "Zack! Let me help you! I owe this to Genesis…!" Zack himself couldn’t say much against it but agreed. ‘Maybe she is the key, maybe Genesis will come to his senses when he sees her!’, he thought. "Uhm… Sure Piret! Let’s go!"
From then on Piret accompanied him. Fought against the monsters with him and collected the needed materia. “I sadly don’t know where to go! I have never seem this place.”, Piret said to Zack. When they opened the gate a terrible monster came out. “Zack! Careful!”, Piret screamed. With a little bit of effort the monster could be defeated. They walked to the gate and stopped before entering it. Zack took a look at Piret. “Ready?”, he asked. Piret gave him a silent nod and said: “I’m ready when you are.”
They walked in and not long after the quotes of the LOVELESS epos could be heard.
The closer we walked towards the voice the more nervous I became. I was convinced to be prepared since I have observed everything through Lana’s eyes but my body symptoms made me want to believe that I haven’t seen the worst yet. “Infinite in mystery is the gift of the goddess…”, this beautiful, melodic male voice, in alto. It would always be music in my ears. “You’re late…”, he continued talking to Zack. It was the last thing I perceived before my eyes met him and a world broke for me. From a side-spot I could see Zack staring at me, worried, surely because I covered my mouth with both my hands and my midnight-blue widened eyes gleamed sapphire blue, at him, Genesis, what did just happen to you…?
I didn’t only seem close to tears I indeed was. My soul was captured by feelings of guilt, sadness, sorrow, helplessness, frustration and self-blame. He was degrading and I couldn’t do anything against it. “Genesis… I thought I have already seen the worst but this… What is just happening to you?”, I almost whispered with a tearful voice. His glance was directed to me now. “I never thought to look in you beautiful eyes again.”, his voice sounded soft and loving as I was used to it. I felt steps. He was approaching me. And I didn’t know what to do. I wanted to be close to him again but in the same time I knew I wouldn’t be able to stand his touches. I closed my eyes strongly when he reached his hand out to me and stroked my cheek with his palm. “Genesis! Don’t you you touch her!”, I heard Zack shouting but Genesis remained unimpressed. “Why shouldn’t I?”, he asked with his glance directed to Zack while he did not let go off me. “After all, we love each other…” Ah! That was a sting right into my heart. I didn’t knows what to do anymore. He kept staying close to me while he talked about the three friends being united again and the gift of the goddess. “Piret!”, he tore me out of my thoughts “Join me. We will be together forever!”, he said while he grabbed my arm. I slightly shook my head. No matter how beautiful it sounded… “Piret! Don’t listen to him!”, Zack screamed trying to fight against. …I wanted to be with him forever but not like this. I gained back my determination and gleamed at him but then everything happened too fast… A light captured him. I got scared and approached it. I reached my hand out to Genesis to take him out but the light was stronger and hurled me away. “PIRET!”. Zack’s scream was the last thing I realized before I lost my conscience. I can’t explain why but I felt to be in some kind of guarding forcefield while Zack seemed to fight. It must have come from him. Even if Genesis turned into a monster he still seems to remember and love me with all his being…
After a while the second explosion. Everything in the surrounding was dark, gloomy and lifeless… Was the fight over? Not quite. At least Genesis was himself again. Red coat, black leather, red-brown beautifully styled hair, light blue Mako-eyes. The man I fell in love with eight years ago. It conjured a smile on my face while I was still lying on the floor. He was washed out but still fought against Zack reciting LOVELESS.
I had to do something now. I caught myself and stood up running right into the middle of the two SOLDIERs. Angeal’s heritage, the Buster Sword, was blocked by my scythe, Silence, which I summoned out of nowhere. But Rapier seemed to block himself. So it was true that Rapier wasn’t able to hurt me. Did it feel mine and Genesis’ connection? “Piret…?”, Zack said and laid his sword down. I could only give him the honor of a short glance because Genesis let Rapier fall out of his hand and fell right on me. I caught him and held him securely and tightly. “It is all fine Genesis.”, I told him calmingly. “Let me help you Piret.”, Zack said as he approached. He gave me a warm smile. I gave him a nod in agreement. Zack took my injured lover and carried him to the Banora White tree where Cloud and Angeal were waiting. I stroked a strand of hair off his beautiful face.
We’ve reached the Banora White tree. I couldn’t hold myself from letting out a small chuckle. I connect my most beautiful memories with this tree. Genesis never likes his home because of his parents. He wanted to spare me them. But the more he loved Banora… So we have spent our times here. “Oh dear goddess.”, I said when I saw the wretched situations of Angeal and Cloud. Zack laid Genesis on the ground and leaned him against a chair. I settled down next to him and embraced him securely. Zack brought us Dumbapples. Genesis’ most favorite food. “Is it good?”, Genesis, who leaned on me, asked. He was smiling. That smile I longed for a long time. We nodded and I bit up a piece and fed Genesis with it. After a while Zack took Cloud and prepared to leave. Suddenly a bad premonition came over me. “Zack!”, I hissed and realized I couldn’t hide my fear “Please take care and do nothing hasty.” He kept looking at me for a moment but then nodded and left.
"Do you remember how we used to spend our time here?", Genesis asked me and made me chuckle since I could hear some happiness in his beautiful voice. I squeezed him and looked up to the sky laughing. "How could I? This tree is bearing my most beautiful and precious memories.", I said as happy. But my smile was fading as quickly… "Genesis… Please forgive me for what happened seven years ago…", "sshh…", he interrupted me and laid his hand on my upper leg which made me shiver especially when he slowly started stroking it "you are fine, my lady, you have been right, for the very beginning… But I thank the goddess for bringing us back together". Once again he left me speechless. But only for a moment. I snuggled on him tenderly and rubbed my cheek on his forehead "let us not think of it anymore. What matters is that we are together now and I will not repeat my mistake to let you go again!". We remained close like this with our arms tightly around one another but again the destiny seemed to be against us. We felt a helicopter approaching. "Piret, you have to go, my love." My heart began to speed. I felt cold inside and I was afraid. "But Genesis!", my velvet voice sounded dark and gloomy "What about you?!" "My sweet heart, I can’t allow them to get you in their hands again.", it was impressive how cooled down he was. "But you…?! No! I said I won’t let you go again!", I was in panic but somehow Genesis managed to calm me down. "Don’t worry about me. I’ll be fine. Even if the morrow is barren of promises nothing shall forestall my return. This bond between us can’t be broken!", he said and I left in belief.
